I Hope You Know…

I hope that you know that in this great big vast universe
With stars suspended on silken strands of spider webs
That we cannot see from the concrete
That somewhere up there in this great big sky
Is a great big God with an eye for beauty.
How lovingly He must have dipped his fingers into eternity
To mold the hollows in your face.
How busy His mind must have been with who you would be.
What color would your eyes be painted?
Oil based autumn leaf brown?
Watercolor dips in seas of majesty or moss along the hillside?
Where your fathers’ fathers once lived.
Your hair, or lack there of,
Spun from clouds like cotton candy and arranage
By number atop your darling head.
Your fingertips carved in unique design
No copy saved in heaven’s database.
And the way you speak…
A print press with your terminologies, your quirks,
And the big words you pull out when you’re passionate about something.
I wonder if God ever goes back to that same cloud
On which He spent His day making you
To remember what it was like when you could see Him back.
As a mother, I’m sure it is likened to when the nurse
Wrapped my 5 children into that stripy hospital blanket.
I close my eyes. It’s white. It’s pink. It’s teal. It’s mine.
Today, if you feel alone remember, there is a God
Who takes pride in knowing He created you.
Beautiful, poignant, made to last…
And looking forward to the day you catch a glimpse of your reflection
When you too will stop to admire it.
