People aren’t perfect.
They aren’t.
No matter which way you slice it. There comes a time in life when we will all be wounded by the ones that we love most. Sometimes that wound is small and we don’t even notice it until the salt hits it. Sometimes that wound is huge and we don’t know how it will ever get better.
While it isn’t always easy to look past our wounds, it can help if we focus on the fact that Jesus had wounds too as we walk through our healing.
“He was wounded for our transgressions, scarred for our iniquities. By His stripes, WE are healed.”
Paul said that when we share in His sufferings, we should rejoice… and when we are eager to say, “But what does Paul know?!” We are reminded that Paul was imprisoned for years simply for bringing encouragement to others.
We are all in our own form of prison sometimes.
We are weighted with the burdens of our faults, of others, of situations and circumstances past, present and to come.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that Jesus was weighted with our faults, the faults of others, our situations and circumstances past, present and to come as He hung upon the cross. There was nothing to come ahead of Him that didn’t get nailed to that tree.
There is no pain He did not carry. No wrong He did not right. No brokenness He did not heal. No sin He did not wash. No sadness He did not bear. No fight He did not fight with the scars upon His hands.
People aren’t perfect. None of us are.
But no matter which way you slice it…
Whatever bad news there is in your life…
Jesus brought the Good News to remind you…
You ARE more than your wounds.
You CAN heal with His help...
And most of all --
You’re going to get through this.
